Yankees right-hander Cam Schlittler allowed just one hit and two walks over six scoreless innings in New York's 2-0 victory over the Mets on Sunday, lowering his ERA to 1.95. The outing ended when Bo Bichette struck him with a 111.5 mph comebacker on the back of his right leg in the sixth inning. Schlittler went directly to the clubhouse after the play, though he had already thrown 94 pitches. He struck out eight batters in the game.

After the game, Schlittler told reporters he thinks he will be fine after a couple of days, saying it was his hamstring that was hit hard. Manager Aaron Boone confirmed Schlittler should be okay and called his season awesome, adding that he might be the MVP too. Schlittler said he expects to make his next start, likely next weekend against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

It was the 21st time in 31 starts that Schlittler has allowed no more than one run this season. The 25-year-old has allowed one or zero runs in seven straight starts. His 1.95 ERA is tied with Milwaukee's Jacob Misiorowski for first in the majors among qualified starting pitchers. Schlittler is the clear favorite to win the AL Cy Young Award in a race that has been between him and Toronto's Dylan Cease for most of the summer.
