Max Verstappen will take on 100 drivers in a go-kart race at Silverstone on Sept. 16. The four-time Formula 1 champion will start at the back of the 101-driver field in the Red Bull Max vs. 100 event, which is expected to be the biggest go-kart race in the world. The race will take place on a purpose-built karting track at the British Grand Prix venue, designed by race director and former racing driver David Terrien.

The field will include ultrarunner Arda Saatci, basketball shooting coach Chris Matthews, freestyle mountain biker Matt Jones, and streamers TheGrefg, Caedrel and TheDonato. Verstappen, who won four consecutive drivers' titles from 2021 to 2024, began karting at age 4 and was competing in championships by age 7. He said that in go-karts you learn all the basics, including starts, defending and overtaking, and that he expects to naturally get back into it.

The race will air live on Disney+ and the ESPN app, with a delayed broadcast on ESPN2 later that day. Comedian Mo Gilligan will host the live broadcast. The broadcast will feature game-inspired graphics, cinematic drone footage, live race data and on-screen insights. Verstappen will be able to communicate directly with the competition during the race, giving viewers a unique perspective.
