The Dallas Cowboys have signed running back Tyler Goodson off the Atlanta Falcons' practice squad, the team announced. In a corresponding move, the Cowboys waived running back Israel Abanikanda. The move comes after backup running back Malik Davis suffered a season-ending hip injury during practice last week before the season opener. Davis underwent surgery on Saturday.

Goodson, 25, went undrafted out of Iowa in 2022 and has appeared in 33 games for the Indianapolis Colts from 2023 to 2025. He has 54 carries in his career for 264 yards and a touchdown. Last year, Goodson appeared in 11 games for the Colts, rushing for 24 yards while catching two passes for 8 yards. Most of his playing time has come on special teams throughout his career.

Before the season began, the Cowboys cut Jaydon Blue, who then signed with the Philadelphia Eagles. The Cowboys had signed Abanikanda to the 53-man roster from the practice squad to replace Davis. Dallas lost to the New York Giants in Week 1 on Sunday Night Football.
