The Odyssey earned $87 million domestically in its second weekend, a 30% drop from its opening. The film has now generated $286.3 million domestically and $639.6 million globally. It is Christopher Nolan's best second weekend ever, surpassing The Dark Knight's $75.2 million second weekend in 2008. For R-rated films, it is the second best second weekend in box office history, behind only Deadpool and Wolverine, which earned $96 million in its second weekend in 2024.

Much of the film's success comes from premium format screens. IMAX ticket sales have accounted for $140 million globally, with IMAX screens alone contributing $48 million this weekend. The 41 worldwide 70mm IMAX screens earned $5.2 million, and most showtimes are sold out through September. The film is the first feature shot entirely on 70mm IMAX cameras. Scalpers are reselling tickets for up to $1,000 in major markets like Los Angeles and New York.

Toy Story 5 crossed the $1 billion mark in its sixth weekend with a global total of $1.02 billion, making it the highest grossing film of the year and the sixth Pixar film to reach the milestone. Disney's live action Moana came in second with $10.5 million, bringing its total to $228 million. Hadestown: The Musical, a live stage recording, debuted with $9.7 million. Next weekend, Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens, with some analysts predicting it could have the biggest opening weekend of the year.
