The story

Jaxson Dart completed 23 of 29 passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns with no interceptions in the New York Giants' 28-20 Week 1 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. He also rushed 11 times for 54 yards and finished with a 134.2 passer rating. The victory marked the first win for new Giants coach John Harbaugh, who came from the Ravens and installed a more conventional NFL offense after Dart ran an RPO-heavy system as a rookie in 2025.

Tight end Isaiah Likely, who signed a three-year, $40 million deal to join Harbaugh in New York, caught all eight of his targets for 78 yards and two touchdowns in his Giants debut. Running back Cam Skattebo rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries in his return from a fractured right leg that cut short his rookie season. Wide receiver Malik Nabers, returning nearly a year after tearing his ACL and meniscus against the Los Angeles Chargers on Sept. 28, 2025, caught six passes for 69 yards. After the game, Dart gave Nabers the game ball honoring his long recovery.

Dart showed improved command operating under center and using play-action after working with offensive coordinator Matt Nagy and Harbaugh's staff this offseason. A 13-play, 65-yard fourth-quarter touchdown drive that gave the Giants a 28-14 lead featured Dart repeatedly hitting running back Devin Singletary in the flat for 12, 7 and 9 yards, with the third completion going for a touchdown. The Giants converted nine of 11 third-down opportunities and held Dallas to 69 rushing yards. Before the game, Skattebo wore Dart's Corner Canyon High School jersey to MetLife Stadium.
