Google will host a media event in New York City on September 15 to unveil its Googlebook laptop line, according to invitations received by tech outlets. The event will include a keynote from Google leadership, demo stations with partner devices, and hands-on access for attendees. Google first announced Googlebooks in May at the Android Show, describing them as laptops that combine the best of ChromeOS and Android, built with Gemini Intelligence at their core.

The Googlebook laptops will run on Aluminum OS, built on Android 17, and be manufactured by Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Confirmed features include a magic pointer that allows Gemini AI to interact with anything on screen, native phone app support without downloads or emulated controls, and a feature called Quick Access for viewing and inserting phone files. The laptops will feature a multi-colored LED glowbar on the lid and be built with premium materials in various shapes and sizes.

The Googlebook website lists an autumn 2026 release window, suggesting an October launch after the September reveal to align with the holiday season. Pricing remains unannounced, but sources suggest they will be positioned above Chromebooks as premium devices with multiple tiers. Chrome Unboxed reports that a tiered product strategy will include AL Premium at the top, followed by AL Mass Premium and AL Entry levels, eventually sitting above Chromebook Plus and basic Chromebooks.
